Oakleigh Brass GOLD was our solution to keeping community music alive, even with the COVID-19 restrictions!
Apart yet together
COVID-19 lockdown restrictions prohibited both performances and rehearsals. To continue “apart yet together”, required rapid changes for us all.
To play complex music via online meetings required network capacity beyond what is currently available, so we worked together to develop options within the available technology.
Band members have learnt to develop synthetic backing tracks for our weekly meetings. These new software skills have further developed by producing new/playable parts allowing us to generate music that can be easily read by modern players.
During lockdown, we used these group backing tracks as the basis for an online weekly meeting, allowing everyone to play along, and more importantly, to stay in touch with each other.
