The Welcome Project
The Welcome Project will be running in 2020, starting on Monday 23rd March.
What is the Welcome Project?
The Welcome Project is a special place to pick up an instrument for the first time, (or the first time, in a long time).
Playing in a brass band offers the chance to meet new people and then to make new friends. But it can be daunting to be the only beginner, especially when there is lots to learn.
In the capable hands of Oakleigh Brass, our innovative approach to adult learning aims to help every member of the group improve their playing skills, ultimately becoming ready to take their place with new friends in the main band.
The sessions will include time to socialise and share experiences – not just bashing out some notes.
There will be homework, so you will need to practice at home, and can help you get the most of this too. As with any new skill, we can’t turn you into an expert overnight, it will take time, however, the journey is very much the reward.
Places are available for adults wishing to become brass players or percussionists.
